Continual Steps to Take When Firing a Rogue System Administrator

This phase provides an overall security mentality for the organization. These steps would typically be performed a number of weeks after the termination has taken place.

Protection Phase

  • Adopt the mentality of segregation of duties. That way multiple people are used to divvy up the security and administration of an organization so no one individual can circumvent the security in place
  • Continually adopt and update the formal termination policy and procedures
  • Consider hiring an external organization to conduct a Penetration and/or Vulnerability test
  • Devise server hardening procedures and implement them
