Securing Remote Administration Using Remote Desktop for Windows 2003 Server

Encryption Level High

Click on the General tab and set the encryption level high.

This setting increases the security of the communication between the administrators workstation and the server. This can greatly decrease the likelihood of an attacker intercepting these communications and performing a successful offline attack against them

Click OK to finish the Terminal Services configuration and close the MMC.

Conclusion

While remote administration using remote desktop is relatively secure by default these few simple settings will ensure that you have taken extra precautions to increase the security of your server.
