What do you do when something bad happens to your servers or data? Many organizations do not like to think about the worst, or even have a plan for when things go wrong.

The following list is a set of items that should be reviewed when creating an security audit of your disaster recovery plan.

  • Is this server backed up on a regular basis?
  • Are these backups stored securely offsite in a protected manner?
  • Are test restores done to ensure that the process works and backup media is functioning?
  • Is all backup media labeled and dated?
  • Is the recovery console installed?

  4. Software Currency
  5. Disaster Recovery
