Definition: CPTED is an acronym for "Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design". The goal of CPTED is to design and build environments that deter criminal behavior and encourage positive behavior.
The four principles of CPTED are
- Natural Surveillance
- Natural Access Control
- Territorial Reinforcement
- Maintenance
Target Hardening is sometimes included as an element of CPTED, as well.
