Walking Through an External Security Test

An external security test (also called a penetration test or an ethical hack) gives you a status report of your organization security posture from an Internet view point. It is better to know your security weaknesses before a hacker.

The phases of a penetration test are laid out in a logical and progressive manner and each phase builds of the previous phase.

The phases are as follows:
