Would you hang a sign on your door that says, "I'm gone. You can rob my office now."?
If not, then why would you tweet your every location to the world? Bad guys pay attention to the Twitosphere. If you're constantly revealing your location and itinerary, you may be setting yourself up for a robbery. Or worse.
I've been harping on social media habits so much that some of you think I'm a cranky old Luddite. I am. But that doesn't change the fact that the more information you reveal online, the more you make yourself vulnerable to criminals.
If you must announce your every move to a breathless public, at least take a lesson from ID Theft Expert Robert Siciliano. Before leaving for an interview recently, Robert tweeted
"I'm on the CBS Early Show at 7:40am ... My home is alarmed & my German Shep will bite you!"
